Ever since I saw pictures of the little colorful houses seemingly clinging to the cliffs in Italy I knew I wanted to visit this magical place. Little did I know it was not one but multiple villages, streched along the meditarrenean coast a few kilometers below Genua. Thanks to Google I found out where this "Cinque Terre" was located and kept in in the back of my mind for future travel. It took me a while, but finally, last year, I managed to visit the little towns of Manarola, Vernazza, Riomaggiore and Monterosso - in just a day! We left out the last town because I wasn't feeling well and the locals told us it was the least interesting of all. If you have been there, let me know if they lied. Then I might just have to go back to revisit the town of Corniglia.
Our two-week roadtrip also brought us to the beautiful towns of Pisa, Siena, Parma, Modena and Monteriggioni - if there's a gamer reading you might know that town from Assassin's Creed. I know I did. It was a wonderful, fun roadtrip and I'm actually glad our normal travel-plan didn't work out.
